A man called Roy.
Beyond the Badge, some of the best stories in football don't happen between the lines.
Beyond the Badge, documentary & storytelling series
Some of the best stories in football don't happen between the lines.
Roy is a retired man from England who simply loves football.
During a previous trip to Cyprus, he discovered Akritas Chlorakas and began following the club from afar.
This year he returned to Cyprus for a holiday that happened to coincide with the beginning of the new season.
A chance meeting with the club's sponsors led to an invitation to attend an Akritas match as a VIP, turning an ordinary football day into something considerably more memorable.
Roy was brought to the stadium, met the players, watched the match and spent time with people around the club.
Before he left, there was one final surprise: his own personalised Akritas shirt.
It wasn't planned.
It was simply one of those moments football creates.
One man who loves football. One club that found another supporter.
Beyond the Badge.
